It is with great excitement that the Mulwala Football Netball Club (MFNC) has announced that the iconic Lake Mulwala “Yamaha Cod Classic” will go ahead this year being held from December 3rd – 5th. Entries are now open.

The Cod Classic celebrates the opening to a new Murray Cod fishing season at the “Home of the Murray Cod” – Lake Mulwala.

Entering its 22nd year, the Cod Classic will have a new look bringing it into line with whatever COVID-19 restrictions are imposed at the time. Planning has been incredibly hard in the lead up but the MFNC are sure all competitors will understand that changes would have to be made for this iconic event to continue in these difficult times.

With a smaller than usual crowd expected due to travel restrictions and potential lockdowns, the MFNC will endeavor to give “value for money” and put on an event that is a benchmark for others to follow.

2021 will see 3 x Yamaha – Quintrex – Humminbird boating packages up for grabs along with $60K in prizes. Fishing sections will remain the same along with many major lucky door prizes.

Flathead Fred will be there for the kids on the Saturday evening (if he can make it across!)

A new addition to this year’s event will see a “Mega Raffle” being conducted on the Saturday night with a plethora of prizes.

Meals will not be included in your entry fee ($90 Adults, $45 Juniors) but a host of on-site food vendors will be present serving quality foods. Unfortunately, the serving of 12,000+ meals over the weekend has become an impossibility thanks to COVID-19.

Plans are being put in place for those Victorians who can’t cross the border if it’s still restricted at the time of the event. A registration, fish verification and raffle sales point will be set up on the Victorian side of the lake. Competitors will not have to be present at event HQ, Mulwala Football Ground to be eligible to claim their prizes. Arrangements will be made for prize collection post event. Hopefully all restrictions are lifted by December 3!

Entry forms will not be sent out at this late stage. Best bet is get on the phone and give Tony Bennett a call 0439 441 667 to reserve your place.

The usual lines of merchandise will be available so get in quick so you don’t miss out.

If you have any other questions or queries give Tony a call.
